I love this camera! Theres a lot I have to learn about it like some of the settings, but its a beautiful camera. So many options on it, and it takes such clear detailed pictures! I got this so that I could take close-ups of my jewelry I design. This was one of the top cameras to get for Macro shots, probably THE top camera to get. I like it so much, I bought 2 of these cameras - one thats lightly used for use and the new one as a back-up. 2 of these cameras together in cost is cheaper than when I bought my first digital camera that was a Nikon Coolpix 4300 about 5 years ago! This Canon is worth every penny.

Weve had the Canon A70 for about 5 years and it served us very well in a lot of different environments but finally died. Thats why I decided to stay with the Canon A series. Sad to say we have been dissapointed. The time for the flash to cycle is terrible, even when I tried the expensive Lithium batteries (no different than rechargeable). The zoom is great and pictures in daylight are great as are close-up flash pictures of still objects. It should have had an auto action mode like the A70. If youre taking pictures of thing moving, make sure you force the shutter speed.

I did a bit of researching for this camera and was a little put off by some of the negative reviews it had received. My dad reminded me that people who write long whining complaints usually have nothing better to do and to read the positive reviews instead. I went ahead and bought this camera and I am not disappointed in the least. I have had the best customer service from Canon ever so I will always stick with Canon. I use this camera for everything and take it diving as well, with an underwater case of course. The biggest whine I heard about the camera was the delay between pushing the shutter button and the image showing up. That has happened when the batteries where just about dead and every once in a while, but I hardly notice it. I dont see the big deal, the complainers just need to slow down and relax. Its only a picture. Overall, great camera!

I purchased this to replace an old superzoom, thinking that since it offered similar features it would be a similar camera. That was probably wishful thinking on my part as I was badly disappointed. This is a great camera if youre upgrading from a standard point-and-shoot, but its not yet out of its class.
Pros: many different shooting modes, enough to make a twiddler like me happy while keeping functionality easier. Lightweight and portable I had no trouble slipping this into my admittedly-a-bit-large purse. Excellent picture quality although it felt very soft to me since Im used to dSLRs and superzooms. Extremely good on batteries.
Cons: terrible optical viewfinder which not only presented me with less than 90% coverage but was skewed in addition. I am always having to retake because of parallax problems. The landscape option forces a different aspect ratio that is very hard to deal with when you tend to crop your shots back to a standard 3:2 aspect.
Im selling this and going back to my superzoom, but if youre just after snapshots this camera will suit your needs perfectly.
